Review on Sakae Sushi restaurant

Sakae Sushi Logo

On 29th of June 2006, I decided to have my dinner at a Japanese restaurant near my neighbourhood - Subang Jaya. The Japanese restaurant I went called the Sakae Sushi, it is a Sushi chain restaurant just like Sushi King and Genki Sushi that have been in Malaysia for quite some time. Sakae Sushi is new in Malaysia but have been roaming in Singapore for quite some time and this is the link to their site.

The Sakae Sushi, I went is located at Subang Parade Ground Floor. It is same row as Dome, Coffee Bean if you are looking from outsite. If you are inside the shopping mall, it is just located opposite Uncle Lim’s.

Design
Computerize System

The design of this restaurant is very unique in its way. As usual, any sushi chain restaurant will have conveyorbelt system but what this restaurant have and others dont have is a computerize ordering system.

Food
Teabag

The taste of the food here is just average for me, jusy my personal view. It wouldnt go any further as we all know that it is a Sushi chain restaurant and the standard is just the same. But of course, I will perfer this over Sushi King. As a frequent Japanese restaurant visitor, the best way to see how good is the food is by testing their Cawanmushi.

The Cawanmushi wasnt as good as I expected, the egg is overcooked and temparature of the food is below warm. Next will be my main dish, Gyu Don (Thinly sliced stir-fried beef and onions served on top of a bed of soft warm rice). The taste was ‘okay’, however the temparature of the food is below warm. You may see stim coming out as you dig in, but it is just not warm. From my point of view, they are warming it up using Microware. And the picture above is the teabag they used with their own logo printed on it.
Service

Hotwater Refiller
There isnt much of service in this restaurant with a computerize ordering system, and even refilling hot water is self-service too. The waiter that served me is not locals, but they are friendly and their English is pretty good with a funny slang.

Value

SushiPrice
Since it is a Japanese restaurant, food here is generally more expensive than others. But it is cheaper than any other tranditional Japanese restaurant since it is a Sushi chain. And it is what the founder of this Sakae Sushi wishes, customer able to enjoy cheaper Japanese food. Price ranging from RM1.90 and above.
As for my conclusion, if you are a person that just want to have a taste of Japanese food, this is the place. Due to the fact that it is a Sushi chain and lost some ‘real’ original Japan taste, you rarely will meet up with Japanese in this restaurant.
